Hundreds of organisations from across the sector joined together to support the first National Eye Health Week. To see a list of who took part click here.
Across the UK, charities, health professionals, optical bodies and PCTs organised a whole range of activities to promote eye health. These included:
- A parliamentary reception in the House of Commons
- An awareness day at Stormont.
- Early day motions in all four UK countries.
- The UK Vision Conference
- An awareness stand in the atrium of the Department of Health

- A series of national and regional radio broadcasts
- An omnibus awareness survey of 4000 people
- Hospital and community based awareness events with OCT or fundus cameras
- Poster competitions in schools
- Visits to care homes and sheltered housing

These are just a few of the activities that took place during the week. To see more take a look at our facebook page. We must now build on this momentum in 2011 and have even more organisations taking part and more activities being staged.
